Old Malton, who have a large number of games to catch up in the premier division of the Leeper Hare York and District Football League, showed their championship credentials in a 6-2 victory over Crayke.

Simon Cook was the star of the show as Old Malton eased to a comfortable victory as they steamed into a 6-1 half-time lead.

Other Malton goals in that first-half blitz came from Mick Henderson (2) and Phil Hill.

Simon Wilson scored both goals for second-placed Crayke.

Old Malton are now just two points behind third-placed Dringhouses who were held 1-1 at Wiggington Grasshoppers.

Andy Barkway fired Dringhouses ahead from the penalty spot before Tom Matthews finished off a well-worked three-man move to equalise.

Dringhouses forced Grasshoppers' goalkeeper Mark Cammidge to make some great saves but they could not find a winner.

Dunnington proved too strong for CGU and didn't really look back after Mike Walker shot them ahead after 20 minutes.

Two minutes later he added his second and after CGU forced a couple of corners Dunnington stretched their lead with a Matt Shelton goal.

CGU goalkeeper Neil Mercer kept Dunnington at bay for long spells with a series of outstanding saves but could not prevent Shelton from adding another goal in the second half.

Phil McArdle's neat header gave CGU some consolation, Fon Atang and Shaun Gibbs being the pick of their players.

The result leaves CGU anchored at the bottom of the table with just one point from 13 games.

Pocklington were also 4-1 winners, Rufforth being on the receiving end.

Mick Murr netted Pock's opener and in the second half there were further goals by player-manager Carl Calvert and Graham Whitehead before Paul Moss pulled one back for Rufforth who look like ending the season in mid-table.
