Squadron Leader Mike Chambers, senior air traffic control officer at RAF Linton-on-Ouse picked up an MBE in the recent New Year's Honours list.
Mike, born in Bridlington, has had 35 years RAF service which has seen postings in the UK, Germany, Borneo, Singapore, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands.
He is married to Kathryn, who was born in Ripon, and has two grown up children.
Mike's citation highlighted his participation in the Harrogate and District Victim Support Scheme where he has worked tirelessly in support of victims of crime.
He is a strong supporter of the Ripon and District branch of the Royal Air Force Association, and does a lot of fundraising.
His hobbies include hill walking, researching military history and he is also a member of the quiz team at the Swan Inn, Ripon.
