Head teacher Helen Glendinning has gone back to her old school in her new job at St George's RC Primary School in York.
Mrs Glendinning has come full circle by returning to the school she attended as a pupil from 1962 to 1966.
She has taken over this term, following the retirement of the former head, Norman Fowler.
Originally from York, Mrs Glendinning attended St Wilfrid's RC Primary School as Helen Cuthbert until she was seven. Then came the period at St George's, when it was housed in its old building off Walmgate. Her secondary school life was spent at the Bar Convent School and she has taught at St Wilfrid's and English Martyrs' RC primary schools.
Her most recent job was turning round a Bridlington school which had been put on to "special measures" by Ofsted.
She said: "I will always have very fond memories of the school, but it is really wonderful to be back in York where I feel I really belong, and where I have always lived."
