THE objectors to the Coppergate extension are coming up with the usual rubbish again. Following Mr Bevan's outburst, they now come up with William the Conquerer's 'Motte' (Archbishop urges shops plan inquiry January 4).
If William could only stand on his 'Motte' now. He would see a very nice building (Castle Museum). He would also see a collection of old Nissan huts, tin roof's, corrugated asbestos sheeting: a fine mess. Then between the River Foss and his 'Motte', a scruffy, untidy car park.
William should now look to Tower Street, run down and neglected.
York is a lovely city, don't let these objectors ruin it. Get on with it.
