When it comes to charity, there ain't nothing like a Dame.
York's panto legend, Berwick Kaler, took time out from his role as Cissy Sessay in Dick Whittington at the Theatre Royal to lend his support to Marie Curie Cancer Care's annual Daffodil Appeal.
He joined Marie Curie nurse Lisa Stanley to publicise the event, which takes place in March, and for which the charity is currently mustering collectors and helpers.
"If you can spare time to help, I know that the charity would be extremely grateful," said Berwick.
The daffodil is Marie Curie's emblem and giving a donation and wearing a daffodil during March will support the charity's work locally.
More than 250 Marie Curie nurses work in Yorkshire to provide practical care for people in the late stages of cancer and their families in their homes. The service is free of charge.
The charity said that if people could take a box of daffodils to their places of work or spare some time on Daffodil Day to help as a collector, it would make a huge difference.
Anyone who might be able to help can ring the North Yorkshire Marie Curie fundraising office on 01904 621000.
