The whole issue of who is to replace Martyn Moxon as Yorkshire's director of coaching will be discussed by the club's cricket committee next Tuesday.
Cricket chairman Bob Platt and his three colleagues, plus first team captain David Byas, will then sift through the applications already received for Moxon's job, even though it has not yet been advertised.
They will also consider whether to appoint from within which could mean Byas and the club's star Australian batsman Darren Lehmann sharing some of the coaching duties with Arnie Sidebottom and Steve Oldham lending a hand at senior level if required.
That would still leave the way open to put coaching administration in the hands of former Yorkshire and England off-spinner Geoff Cope but if he accepted such a role he would have to resign his seat as a committee member for Central district.
It is believed that Lehmann has already turned down an initial approach by Yorkshire but he could possibly be persuaded by Byas to think things over again if that is what the captain would like.
Yorkshire's general committee yesterday confirmed that Moxon will be released from his contract as director of coaching at the end of the month in order to take up a similar post with Durham.
