Both vehicles were extensively damaged following the smash at the Newton Lane junction with the A1079 at Wilberfoss. The drivers were both taken to York District Hospital, but only one was detained. Police are urging witnesses to contact them as they try to discover what caused the accident.
A force spokesman said: "One of the lorries appears to have pulled out of Newton Lane into the path of the other one, which was heading towards York."
