Home was where the art was for York Ladies in their North Eastern League game against Hornsea.
On familiar ground they won, only to lose on aggregate.
Claris Johnston, Jean Williams, Linda Mokes and Pat Teasdale chased the game throughout before sealing a home 20-19 win.
In the other rink at Thanet Road, Margaret Smith, Pat Ellis, Audrey Wragg and Pat Lofthouse came back from 10-6 to win 16-12.
But in Hornsea the York ladies struggled to keep the score down.
Pat Bracken, Marilyn Andrews, Sylvia Walker and Maureen Robinson were 8-1 behind after only four ends, eventually beaten 22-14.
The rink of Doreen Fennell, Doreen Giles, Janet Marden and Nancy Lynch dropped seven shots on the second end to go 9-0 down.
They got back to 17-10, but their Hornsea opponents stepped up a gear and won all of the remaining rinks and the game 32-10.
York got four points from the game to Hornsea's six.
