Clifton scored a convincing 7-2 home win over University Student Ladies in division one of the York Badminton League. Lorraine Ellis and Melanie Knowles took the best Clifton return with three straight wins for 92-44. Liz Windle and Roz Ellis took both student wins, but lost out ten and nine to Ellis and Knowles.
Scott Anderson and Dennis Bradley took three wins for Drax 'A' as their team beat Shepherd's 7-2 in men's division one.
Anderson and Bradley took three straight wins for 90-49, including a ten and ten over Ian Eaton and Paul Nichols, who took a hard earned point with a 15-13 4-15 15-11 over Steve Park and Dave Walsh.
Shepherd's suffered a further reverse when they visited IT Sports and lost 8-1. Chris Swift and Paul Waterhouse top-scored for IT with a return of 92-52, while Tim Ross and Dave Simpson took the Shepherd consolation with a nine and nine over Charles Stuart and Chris Schofield.
Clifton 'A' hit good home form to score a 9-0 win over Riverside in mixed division one. Ian Shore and Gerry Screeton put in the best Clifton display with three straight wins for 90-34.
Riverside also visited Students, losing 7-2 at the campus sports centre. Sue Cooper and Duncan Bosworth combined well again to take three student wins for 100-50. Tricia Fowler and Ian McKinlay took a deserved Riverside win with a 15-13 17-15 over Roz Ellis and Nick Burton.
Rowntree 'A's trip to the University Sports Centre resulted in a 9-0 win over Students 'B' in mixed one.
Brenda Drummond and Geoff Whittaker topped the confectionery side averages with a return of 90-27 from three straight wins.
Clifton 'B' scored a narrow 5-4 home win over Huntington 'A' in mixed division two. Ian Shore and Garry Screeton made the difference with a straight sets maximum for a return of 90-52. Dave Streather and Karen Barraclough sealed the win with a four and zero over Bev Tebbutt and Alastair Jewison.
Rowntree 'C' made it a good week for the club after an 8-1 win over Tadcaster 86 in mixed three. John Emptage and Sheila Mackerel top-scored for Rowntree with a total of 101-46, while Alan Ward and Margaret Garniner took the Tadcaster point with a 15-17 15-10 15-7 over Dave Thompson and Barbara Walker.
York Police hit a good home win form to score a 9-0 win over YUSC 'A' in mixed three. Peter and Carol Howes headed the Police averages again with a total of 90-26 from three straight wins.
Selby Jubilee 'A' continued their good start to the season with an 8-1 away win over local rivals Drax 'D'. Neil Richardson and Valerie Bell took three Jubilee wins for 101-71, while John Donnelly and Di McKechnie took the Drax saver with a 5-15 15-8 15-12 over Andy Hatfield and Gill Goothill.
