Acomb Ladies, playing for the first time in several weeks, looked rusty as they lost 4-1 to higher-ranked Wakefield in a friendly.

Wakefield took the lead after ten minutes from a quick break with a well struck shot.

Acomb responded with a bout of short corners, but Wakefield doubled their lead midway through the half.

Acomb pulled one back when Vicky Winters dribbled past a couple of Wakefield defenders and fired home.

Wakefield grabbed a third before the interval and although Sally Kelsey and Kerry Rafton both went close to scoring, Wakefield added a fourth goal before the end.

Danielle Courtine and Karen Boddison were the star performers for Acomb.

York Olympics beat Dunnington 6-0 with goals from Julie Routledge (2), Sam Chambers (3) and Helen England.

There was no stopping Acomb men's first team once they got into their stride against Normanby Park.

Mike Brown in goal made some important stops to keep the score-sheet blank early on before Acomb started to create chances.

Both Paul Wright and Nick Linfoot should have scored before the breakthrough finally came when a pass from Dave Richardson found Jamie Robinson, whose shot deflected to Linfoot to give Acomb the lead at half-time.

Acomb stepped up a gear and controlled the game after the interval to finish 3-0 winners.

Barry Whitfield doubled the lead, then Stuart Baxter came close to scoring when a short corner strike hit the post late in the game.

With time running out, Adrian Nye's fine cross was swept in by captain Wright.
