A football signed by megastar footballers is on offer to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to our Hospice 2000 Appeal.
The prized ball, signed by the Manchester United football team, is being auctioned at the Brigadier Gerard pub, in Monkgate, York, and bids must be in before January 1.
The pub is a regular supporter of the hospice, having raised thousands of pounds over the years.
Landlord Ray Marfell, a vehement Leeds supporter, will only pick the football up wearing gloves or using beer towels.
"I would have got a Leeds football, but I would have kept it for myself," he said.
"It is a good way of raising money for charity despite the team it represents."
The opening bid was for £25 and bids have since risen steadily.
To make a bid, phone Ray on 01904 642612.
