A York civil servant has received a medal for his 20 years loyal and dedicated service.
Cliff Rowley, of Heworth, retired from Imphal Barracks, Fulford, in December last year but returned to his former workplace a year later to receive the Imperial Service Medal.
The medal was presented by the commander of 15 (North East) Brigade, Brigadier Andrew Farquhar, watched by colleagues and staff.
Cliff began his Civil Service career in 1979 after serving 22 years in the RAF as a radar operator and fighter controller.
He joined the Foot Guards and Infantry Manning and Record office at Imphal Barracks as a clerk where he handled personnel postings.
"I have enjoyed the jobs I have held in the Civil Service over the last 20 years and am delighted to receive this medal," he said.
