I agree with the graffiti writer - leave Coppergate alone, at least until advice is sought on how to get it right (December 23). City of York Council asked for opinions on the toilet block in Parliament Street - not many places can say the main feature of a street is a toilet.
How about tidying up a couple of old eyesores before they embark on something new, like George Hudson Street. Move the council out of Museum Street/St Leonard's Place into the rest of the old Co-op building. The vacated buildings could then be made into superior housing thus making money for the council.
While we are in George Hudson Street, make the old Presto supermarket into a bus depot - we should have one. Then the Lost Luggage Office could be moved too.
Then we will think about Coppergate.
