Fontwell promises to come to the rescue of racing-starved enthusiasts tomorrow by being the only scheduled fixture to survive the Arctic weather.
Stormy Skye is napped to land the spoils in one of the televised races from the Sussex course.
Trained by Gary Moore at Brighton, Stormy Skye goes for the Hasseroder Handicap Hurdle and, in the hands of Philip Hide, is selected to add to his recent victory at Ascot.
The four-year-old trotted up that day, beating Romero by an easy four lengths.
Although the handicapper has responded by raising Stormy Skye 9lb in the weights, the gelding is considered capable of shrugging off his extra burden.
In the £20,000 Victor Chandler Sussex National, the feature race at Fontwell, Smarty has excellent prospects of providing trainer Mark Pitman with a welcome change of luck.
The seven-year-old scored at Leicester on his reappearance, after missing the whole of last season through injury, and has since finished a decent third to Legal Right in a red-hot race at Ascot.
With Timmy Murphy in the saddle, Smarty can get back on top here for Pitman, whose top-notch hurdler Ashley Park finished lame when narrowly beaten at Kempton on Wednesday and is sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Murphy can also score on Red Blazer in the Oldwick Saddlery Classified Hurdle.
Tony Carroll's gelding won in good style at Fakenham a couple of weeks ago when beating Dare by four lengths. A follow-up looks on the cards.
Chatergold has solid prospects in the Barnham Bridge Inn Novices' Handicap Chase.
The consistent eight-year-old, trained by Graham McCourt, is a previous course winner over this extended three miles and, in the circumstances, he did well to score over an inadequate two miles at Folkestone last time.
Clearly in good heart, Chatergold can add to his tally tomorrow in the hands of smart claimer David Dennis, who also rode him to victory last time.
Tomorrow's Tips - Fontwell
12.50 - Red Blazer
1.20 - The Full Nelson
1.55 - North Kilkenny
2.30 - Smarty
3.05 - Chatergold
3.35 - Stormy Skye (Nap)
