I WONDER how many readers who own animals are just as fed up as I am with the number of fireworks that are still being let off.
My dog is absolutely terrified when she hears fireworks going off and hides under the nearest bed quivering and refuses to come out.
While I do not wish to be a killjoy, and appreciate that fireworks are part of the English heritage on bonfire night, I feel that fireworks are well out of hand now.
Fireworks went on sale in the Acomb area at the beginning of October and were being let off at all times of the day and night, every day of the week from the onset of them being sold.
Nearly three months later they are still being let off and for nearly three months my dog has had to suffer the torment they do to her.
When will she be able to have some peace?
I have always been led to believe that we are a nation of animal lovers. Therefore isn't it about time that people give some thought to our animals and the torment they have to suffer?
I wonder how many other people feel that fireworks should be restricted to the appropriate time of November 5 and not an extended period of three months or more?
