Look no further than Function Dream to provide some Christmas cheer in the big race at Wetherby on Boxing Day.
The Mary Reveley-trained mare, winner of three of her last four races - the latest two on this course - is strongly fancied to hit the bullesye in the £35,000 Castleford Chase, an event which has attracted a small, but select field.
Previously trained in Ireland, Function Dream was sent to Britain in search of increased opportunities, and Reveley has certainly found them.
The eight-year-old is going from strength to strength this season and could hardly have been more impressive than when beating the useful Jungli by 21 lengths over this course and distance last month.
Subsequently stepped up to two and a half miles, Function Dream had to be ridden right out to get the better of Inn At The Top last time at Wetherby, but she will benefit from the drop back to the minimum distance on Tuesday.
A horse in form from a stable in form, Function Dream looks good to recoup some of the Christmas expenses in a fascinating race where cases can be made out for all five of the runners.
Success for Function Dream will further highlight the bright chances of Inn At The Top - runner-up to her earlier this month - in the Supermaster Handicap Chase.
The exciting Dark'n Sharp looks a good bet to get punters off to a good start in the opener, while Supreme Lad (1.00), a progressive performer over hurdles last season, could well give Russ Garritty a winning ride on the horse's first try over fences.
History could be made in the £150,000 Pertemps King George V1 Chase at Kempton
See More Business has a golden opportunity to win the race for a third time and equal the feat of Desert Orchid and Wayward Lad.
Winner in 1997 and last year, See More Business is the highest-rated chaser in the British Isles.
Paul Nicholls' stable-star looked in excellent order when winning the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on his reappearance and is a worthy favourite for this cracking contest.
French raider First Gold represents trainer Francois Doumen, who has won this race four times in the last 13 years, but this confirmed front-runner will have to produce a career-best display to beat See More Business.
Mick Fitzgerald, rider of See More Business, can also capture the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase on Dusk Duel, an exciting and highly-rated recruit to the fencing ranks this season.
Watch out too for Hitman (12.40), a recent springer in the ante-post market for the Champion Hurdle, and also the unbeaten Shotgun Willy, who looks sure to take all the beating in the Feltham Novices' Chase.
It will be a surprise if Mary Reveley goes away empty-handed from Sedgefield, where she is far and away the leading trainer.
She has excellent prospects with recent winner June's River (2-30), who is awarded the Nap vote, and also with Cruz Santa (3-30), who is overdue a victory.
Mick Easterby is worth following at Market Rasen, where he has winning chances with ex-invalid Dancing Phantom (1.35) and hurdling newcomer Nowell House (2.35), a decent handicapper on the Flat.
The Clugstone Lincolnshire National over an extended four miles should be right up the street of out-and-out stayer Laundry Lady's Lad from the in-form Jonjo O'Neill yard.
