While congratulating the York Brewery on the success of its first pub, The Last Drop in Colliergate, the proposal for converting 15 High Petergate into a pub is highly inappropriate (December 20) given the fact that this is a residential street where people live over the shop. There are already two pubs, The Hole in the Wall and the York Arms, on High Petergate.

Permission to convert to a wine bar was subject to restrictions that took these reasons into account, particularly the fact that it is near residential premises. I wish the York Brewery success in its search for a more suitable site for its second pub.
