This group of about 50 protesters took centre stage in York today when they launched an attack on the Turkish Government.
They stood with a banner in the centre of Parliament Street and chanted slogans while shoppers looked on.
Police officers agreed that they could carry on with a peaceful protest for an hour.
Gen Kaba, who said he was a Turkish refugee living in York, said the protest was over alleged atrocities against members of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Front, on hunger strike in Turkish prisons.
He said they had chosen the busy street to ensure publicity. "Turkey isn't just a holiday place, it's a fascist dictatorship," he said.
