Cock-a-Hoop York City can expect a bumper FA Cup cash haul even after agreeing discount prices for their fans for the third round showdown at Premiership Leicester City.

Talks between the Minstermen and their Premier League hosts have sanctioned major reductions in the cost of York supporters travelling to the east Midlands for the long-awaited clash on Saturday, January 6.

York's allocation of 2,000 tickets for the East Stand at Filbert Street are accompanied by all visiting adult fans netting a 25 per cent reduction, whereby tickets usually costing £20 will now cost £15.

In another incentive admission for under-16 York fans will be only £1 if tickets are bought before 5pm on Thursday, January 4.

For fans over the age of 65 the cost is £10.

While Leicester are not expecting the 'house full' signs to go up - Filbert Street's capacity is a shade over 22,000 - the Minstermen's cup heroes can still anticipate healthy receipts. After a 20 per cent of the take going to the FA, each team halves the remaining 80 per cent.

With any crowd around 10,000 or so the Minstermen are likely to claw in at least £50,000. City tickets can be bought by calling the ticket office on 01904 624447 (ext 1), while tickets can be bought in person from the ticket office after tomorrow night's home game against Blackpool.

Season ticket-holders are asked to buy tickets from the window marked 'ticket office', non-holders from the other window.

Office opening times are: December 27-29 9am to 5pm; January 1 after the Chesterfield game; January 2-4 9am to 5pm; January 5 up to 12 noon.

Postal applications will be accepted up to January 3. They require a stamped addressed envelope with all cheques made payable to York City Football Club.

Travel Club fares to Leicester will be £9 for members, £11 non-members with the coaches leaving Bootham Crescent at 11.30 am. Ring 10904 624447 (ext 4) for details.

City's twice-postponed LDV Vans Trophy first round tie at home to Darlington has been re-arranged for Tuesday, January 9, three days after the FA Cup visit to Filbert Street. The winners are at home to Shrewsbury in the second round.

The visit of Carlisle to Bootham Crescent, which had previously been switched from FA Cup third round day to January 9 because of the Cumbrians' clash against Arsenal, will now be re-arranged for a later date.

Meanwhile, City's knockout young guns, the Intermediates, will now travel to the Molineux home of Wolves in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday, January 16, kick-off 7pm.

Admission is £3 adults, £1.50 juniors, and any replay will be back at Bootham Crescent on Tuesday, January 23, also 7pm ko, with entry prices at £3 and £1.
