Local clubs sampled success in the latest round of County Competitions held at New Earswick Indoor Bowling Club.
Represented by Duane Kellett, Alan Storey, Peter Littlewood and John Emmerson, York had a good win against Bill Seabrook's Hornsea team in the fours.
Leading by one shot at 14-13 after 17 ends, York scored eight in the remainder of the game to win 22-13.
New Earswick had a close encounter in the triples against Hull.
Representing the Huntington Road side Barry Johnson, Malcolm Beavers and David Kermode were trailing 9-8 after eight ends before they scored eight shots in the following four ends to open up a 16-9 lead. Hull made a comeback but it was not enough going down 18-17.
In the pairs Redcar beat Hull 18-12 and Huddersfield beat Selby 25-16.
There were easy wins in the triples for Featherstone and Ryedale, beating Ryedale 26-8 and Saltburn 26-9 respectively.
In the fours' competitions there was another one-sided game when Scarborough beat Harrogate 33-10.
All the winning teams now go forward to the quarter-finals to be held at York Indoor Bowls Club BC on January 14 and 28.
