A fragment of a 9th Century Saxon pendant found in a field near York could be put on display at the Yorkshire Museum.
The museum is already in possession of other pieces from the same pendant, found at Poppleton.
The small piece, which is about the size of a thumb and weighs 3g, was sent to the British Museum for examination and was found to be 92 per cent silver.
Deputy coroner Jonathan Leach decided at an inquest yesterday that the item was treasure, which means the finder and landowner could be eligible for rewards.
"I trust the museum will be able to take possession of this item," he said.
