I DON'T know what Mr Duncan Campbell (December 13) is complaining about.
The Labour Government promised a free vote on hunting when they were first elected. They have taken long enough to get round to it. Only continued pressure from the RSPCA, the League Against Cruel Sports and the International Fund For Animal Welfare have forced their hand.
Hunting with dogs is cruel and unnecessary. Anyone taking part in such a pastime, whether prince of pauper, is equally guilty of bringing the human race into disrepute.
I do agree with him on one point. Many more foxes are killed on the roads than by the hunt, this shows the hunt performs no useful purpose in controlling the fox population.
I urge readers to write to their MPs saying only a 'total hunt ban now' will do.
