Work has begun on a new £4 million headquarters for software developer Telaware plc at Thirsk Industrial Park.
The 30,000 sq ft, three-storey project is being carried out by Severfield-Reeve DesignBuild which is based at the nearby Dalton Airfield industrial estate.
The construction company, a subsidiary of Severfield Rowen plc, was chosen for the task by commercial property investment company Woodpark Securities.
On completion next May, the building will be leased to Telaware plc as its administrative HQ for software development and telephony systems supply.
The move from Thirsk town into the industrial park on the outskirts is necessary for booming Telaware, which has further expansion plans.
Severfield-Reeve DesignBuild has already worked alongside Hambleton District Council as a driving force behind the development of Thirsk Industrial Park, designing and building premises for organisations such as Multidrive, St John Ambulance, Talking Picture Cards, Madeira Threads and the RNLI
The structure, which will be the first in the third phase of Thirsk Industrial Park, will include handmade brickwork, high-tech glazing, raised floors, air condition-ing and fitting out.
Lindsay Ross, Severfield-Reeve Design-Build's managing director, said that as well as providing the tenants with prompt and bespoke premises, the lump sum price arrangement with Woodpark Securities "creates more assurance, taking out a significant proportion of the risk for the developer and funder which is often associated with cost and programme over-runs".
