FOUR per cent of all council tenants are at least 13 weeks in arrears on their rent, hundreds more owe at least five weeks rent, so what is this council doing about it?
Is it going to evict the non-payers? Is it going to sack the people on the council whose job it is to make sure this money is collected?
Is it going to withhold payments and expenses from the local councillors who represent these non-payers?
No, in order to balance the books, it does none of these things, instead it proposes to close a home for the elderly and increase the rents of those who pay on time.
What a way to run a council.
