Overnight frost put paid to much of the Leeper-Hare York and District Football League programme.
The cold snap, which comes after two months of sodden pitches, will leave some clubs facing a fixture backlog.
With New Earswick's game unplayable, they gave up ground advantage and played their premier division game at Crayke where they went down to an Ian Dawson header.
Old Malton cruised to a 5-0 victory over struggling CGU with goals by Phil Hill (2), Simon Cook, Lee Garnham and top scorer Mick Henderson.
Only two division one games survived the referees' pitch inspections.
At Fulford, the home team entertained Haxby who won 3-0 to move back to the top.
Gavin Scoreby's goal separated the teams at half-time after a very even first 45 minutes. Aaron Donahue increased the lead on 70 minutes and Scoreby added his second at the death.
Nestl Rowntree travelled to Thorpe Willoughby to take on third placed Thorpe United and shared six goals. Adam Parsons and James Gore put Rowntrees 2-0 up before Phil Fowler reduced the arrears before the break.
Chris Smith and Gavin Clamp then turned things round as Thorpe took the lead only for Parsons to net his second to ensure the game finished 3-3.
Hammerton took over at the top of division two with a 7-1 thumping of Hemingbrough who are still having to play their games away from home due to drainage problems on their home pitch. Hemingbrough led 1-0 at the break but were overwhelmed in the second half as Hammerton's Mark Latimer hit five goals with Jim Spakoukas and Alistair Ramsay weighing in with one apiece. The home side even managed to miss a twice taken penalty.
Huby's improved form deserted them as they failed to take their chances at home to Heworth and lost 3-2.
Goals from Richard Jennison and Andrew Metcalfe put the home side 2-1 in front, Gareth Sullivan keeping Heworth in touch with his goal.
After the break Sullivan completed his hat-trick to snatch the points.
Stamford Bridge managed a 3- 0 win over a ten man White Horse side, playing only their second League game of the season, with goals from Jamie Rank, Richard Hunter and Nick Rank.
Moor Lane and Marton cum Grafton managed to play their game on Knavesmire after the Marton pitch was hit by the freeze. The endeavour paid off for Moor Lane who moved into third place in division three with a comfortable 4-0 win with goals by Andrew Kenyon, Charlie Goodwin, Grant McLean (penalty) and Paul Jones.
Hamilton Panthers and Selby RSSC also moved their top of the table game from Knavesmire and Panthers profited, to move six points clear of their rivals, with a 2-1 win.
Paul Stephenson scored in the first half for the Railway Club but a Paul King penalty levelled matters by half-time. Ian Rankiellior grabbed the decisive second half goal for Panthers.
