A YORK couple brought a Cornish tradition to their guests when they tied the knot today... by serving up Cornish pasties at their reception.
Catherine Jones and John Conyard were getting wed at Barley Hall, York, with a medieval theme to the ceremony.
But at the reception guests were being served Cornish pasties, saffron buns and clotted cream - just like a traditional Cornish wedding, says 35-year-old John, who is originally from Redruth, Cornwall.
"It's something I have always wanted for our wedding, but I thought it would be hard to organise in Yorkshire."
The Cornish Pasty Bakery, Kings Square, York, was supplying all the food, said Catherine, who is originally from Wolverhampton.
"The idea of a Cornish wedding is not something I'd ever considered before I met John, but the food is in keeping with the venue and it'll be a great day," she said.
