Football-famished fans are expected to flock to Plymouth Argyle's Home Park for the visit of the Minstermen tomorrow
Such has been the wet weather - the Devon town has been besieged by rain for the last 94 days - Home Park has not hosted a League game since October 17. The pitch is described as 'extremely muddy', but no inspection is planned.
Tomorrow's match will also be the first home League game for new boss Paul Sturrock.
Sturrock, the ex-Dundee United manager, was unveiled as the new man at Home Park at the end of October, but has suffered a frustrating start.
After seeing five games called-off since taking charge, the Pilgrims, already three games behind in their Division Three programme, are desperate for tomorrow's game to go-ahead.
While strong winds have helped dry the sodden pitch, the latest twist in the elements has prevented the club from using plastic sheeting to protect the surface.
An Argyle side featuring a number of changes saw off an under-strength Bristol City 3-0 in a first round LDV Vans Trophy tie last week.
But Sturrock is likely to keep faith with the side that beat Exeter 2-0 in a Devon derby two weeks ago in the Pilgrims' last Division Three outing.
It means captain and former York City loan player Mick Heathcote will be on the bench.
The centre-half played his first game since recovering from a groin strain against Bristol City, but is expected to make way for Paul Wotton, who starred against Exeter.
Midfielder Martin Barlow was today set to have another scan on a knee injury that has ruled him out of Plymouth's last two games allowing Frenchman David Friio another opportunity to try and earn a permanent deal.
Sturrock will be up against two of his former Dundee United players in City striker Alex Mathie and centre-back Darren Patterson for the first time since he quit Tannadice Park in August.
Places are still available on the City Travel Club bus.
Tickets are priced £24 members and £26 non-members with the coach leaving Bootham Crescent at 7.30am.
Every supporter travelling on the coach will receive a goodie-bag worth £18.
