Stand-off Dirk Mulder faces a big test tomorrow when he faces Redcar's international stand-off Garry Schofield at Clifton Park.

York's Australian No 10 pits his skills against the former Great Britain and Leeds rugby league ace as the home side bid to break their nightmare run in North East Two.

Schofield's kicking game was one of the key factors behind Redcar's victory over York earlier in the season, but York chairman David Pearson believes that if York can contain him then the elusive first league victory can be delivered.

"We are a young side and I think Mulder is improving with every game," said Pearson.

Coach Andy Gair's youngsters have shown themselves to be a useful outfit when they gain possession, but that has proved difficult for a light-weight side on some heavy grounds recently.

York's cause will be boosted by the return of back forward Jim Hawcutt after missing last week's defeat at Huddersfield with flu. Mike Bewell drops down to the bench.

Goole are on the trail of a North Two double when they entertain Old Crossleyans. Goole have Andy Wraith at No. 8 as Phil Jackson is rested and Mark Fallon is at loose head prop for Neil Lyon.

In Yorkshire One, Selby are strengthened by the return of former club captain, Ray Adamson at full back, Richard Topping moving to the wing to take the place of Mike Parsonage.

Pocklington face a testing trip to Brodleians bleak ground at Hipperholme, near Halifax.

When the sides met at Percy Road just four weeks ago. Pocklington looked set for an easy win, but then let Brodleians off the hook to steal a 23-19 result.

Since then Brodleians' results have steadily improved and they now lie third in the Yorkshire One table, with Pocklington currently in seventh place.

For tomorrow, Pocklington back rows Andrew Wilson and Justin Gibbs are both ruled out with leg injuries sustained against Ripon, but Ben Hirst comes in after being unavailable for the past two weeks. On the wing, Rob Jackson deputises for Sam Allen.

Ripon must beat their visitors, North Ribblesdale if they are to escape from the Yorkshire One relegation zone.

Army rugby league player Fred Oakes returns to action after injuring his ribs in an Army game for Richard Bannister. Alex Whittaker comes into the back row as Miles Orsler has a calf injury.

Yorkshire Two league leaders Scarborough visit Castleford with Ken Proctor, making a welcome return to their squad after being unavailable.

In-form Malton and Norton should profit from their Yorkshire Three visit to Bramley Phoenix while York RI travel to take on one of the senior clubs in the league, Heath.

Malton are without their star Australian fly half, Chris Clever who is getting married in the morning with team-mate Tim Chapman in attendance.

Their places are taken by Neil Gilbertson and Ian Cooke with Dave Webster awaiting a late fitness test on an ankle before being named at fly half.

Malton were pleased to be drawn against Halifax Vandals at Warley in the fifth round (North) of the Tetley's Bitter Vase as they beat Vandals 48-27 in a league game last September.

York RI's St John's student, Andy Keogh, who has played scrum half at Somerset County level, is added to the squad.

Olly Turner returns at fly half for Nestl Rowntree after working last week, versatile Dave Sowray, switching to wing forward for Steve Lott.

Ashley Walters, now recovered from a neck injury, will play on the wing instead of Nick Dixon.
