ONCE again, the letters page has included that perennial old chestnut, a central bus station for York. While suitable locations are suggested, how such an expensive scheme would improve bus services - or who will pay - is not specified.
Do the correspondents think it will bring improved services through more buses, reduced fares or improved punctuality?
In addition, would the residents of the various York districts agree about what would be a convenient central location?
My own experiences of bus stations are that they are either fume-filled garages, eyesores or both and not a panacea for problems with bus services.
If many considered Coppergate II an eyesore then how many more would categorise a bus station as such?
