I AM amazed at the Civic Trust's reaction to the Travelodge Hotel in Piccadilly.
If you look at it now and then compare it to what it was previously, the trust should stick to what they do best, such as restoring a painting.
I see from your letters page another relic of the past has emerged, ex-Tory councillor Mr Bevan.
He came up with the priceless quote "voted to desecrate our historic site and betrayed our heritage for 30 pieces of silver", when speaking about the Piccadilly extension.
His party built the ugliest building in York in the churchyard of St Saviour's, one of the oldest buildings in York, by building Stonebow.
I say get on with Piccadilly, it can only improve what we have at present. If in doubt have a look at Tower Street, dropping to pieces by the day.
