A celebration of one of the finest horses to have raced in York has marked its 230th anniversary.
The Gimcrack Dinner, held to celebrate the career of Gimcrack, saw leading names of the racing world meet at the city's racecourse.
Among them were speakers Harry Herbert, a member of the Royal Ascot Racing Club, whose horse Bannister won August's Scottish Equitable Gimcrack Stakes.
A racecourse spokeswoman said: "Gimcrack was a small horse from a long time ago which, during its career, had a wonderful record."
Other speakers at last night's event included Robert Hughes, the chairman of the Horserace Betting Levy Board, and Gilbert Gray QC.
