THE Evening Press is doing a great job raising awareness of the Coppergate development. But have the people who have written letters to the Press also for written letters to the council or Government?
If letters are not officially addressed to councillors then they cannot be used as evidence of public disagreement with Coppergate. At the planning meeting it was clear that not many people had written to express their views, and that polls and letters in the papers and on the radio were not being taken into account.
Can anyone who wants to be heard write to either: Roy Templeman, director, environment and development services, City of York Council, St Leonards Place, York YO1 7ET.
Or write to John Prescott (Deputy Prime Minister) down in London. If anyone would like to get together a petition to send to the Government perhaps they could e-mail me on sj125@York.ac.uk or send me a letter to the address below.
