About 250 elderly people were given the chance to go late-night Christmas shopping in York, thanks to Age Concern.
A number of coaches and minibuses were organised by the charity to ferry people into the city centre from communities outside York.
Many of the elderly people had not been able to venture into town for a long time and some in wheelchairs were helped around the city by senior pupils from various York schools.
Special access to the city centre was provided for all vehicles involved.
Assistance with transport was provided by the rotary clubs of York, Vikings and Ainsty, York Lions and staff from All Saints, Huntington and The Mount schools.
Others helping included York Wheels, Dial and Ride, the British Red Cross and Hospital and Community Disabled Support, all of which provided minibus transport.
