YOUR article "Safety Fears Over Play Area" (December 1) is misleading when it infers that York Police have expressed an opinion against the scheme. One man in his role as a member of the Safer York Partnership Committee, who happens to be a police officer, has voiced his own concerns, and as such, this does not constitute disapproval of the force as a whole.
The playground is designed for three to seven year old children accompanied by parents and will be a major boost in an area which lacks any such facility.
As for the threat from pesticides, there is a picnic area, cycle track and pedestrian path between the playground site and the field in question. If the farmer is serious about his concerns, he should perhaps desist from using dangerous chemicals in such a public place.
