A man and woman were killed and the passenger of another vehicle hospitalised after a crash near Dishforth.
At around 2.45pm yesterday, a dark blue Renault Clio and a dark blue Mercedes Sprinter van were in collision on the A168 Dishforth to Boroughbridge road, next to Dishforth Airfield.
The man and woman in the car were pronounced dead at the scene and two men from the van were taken to Harrogate District Hospital.
The passenger was detained due to his injuries and the driver was treated, discharged and then arrested and taken to Harrogate Police Station.
He was later bailed to re-attend in several weeks time.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Sgt Burns or TC Rob Roberts at Harrogate Police Station on 01423 539312.
There are believed to have been a number of vehicles in the vicinity and any information about the two vehicles or how they were being driving prior to the accident is important.
