Shaun Lanaghan sent Goole through to the third round of the West Riding County Cup, netting both goals in a 2-0 win at arch rivals Selby Town last night.
Lanaghan scored on 35 minutes and again five minutes from time as Goole followed up their August Bank Holiday 4-1 defeat of the Robins in the Northern Counties East League with another victory at Flaxley Road.
However, they were thankful the pitch was heavy as Selby were denied an equaliser when the ball stuck in the mud on the Goole goal-line. Dexter Tucker had rounded the 'keeper and slotted the ball goalwards, only for his effort to run short and be cleared.
Robins spokesman Mark Fairweather said: "Goole were the better side in the first half but we were all over them in the second but could not score."
