Heworth 'A' ended the first half of the season in the York Conservative Clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League undefeated after a 5-2 victory over Bootham 'B'.
Steve Burdett, Jason Milner (33 break), Dave Taylor (22 break), Clive Whyte and Neil Wood, with a 71 break, the highest of the season, were successful for Heworth.
Chris Granger and Ray Stamp (23 break) won for Bootham, who dropped a place to fifth following this defeat.
Bootham 'A' won 5-2 away to Heworth 'B' to maintain second position, three points behind the leaders. Bootham's winners were Brian Coulson, John Darley (with a low frame score of only 34-16), Peter Mills, Colin Robinson and Ken Taylor (28 break). Alf Appleby and Huw Faircliffe (22 break) replied for Heworth.
Faircliffe fought back to tie the frame by sinking pink and black, after Barry Rankin has misread the scores, and then Faircliffe doubled the black to snatch the frame.
Third-placed Acomb 'A' whitewashed Fulford 'B' 7-0 to close the gap on Bootham 'A' to five points. The winning team was Ian Gillies, Richard Harris, Mick Frampton, Gerald Mackenzie, Keith Myers, Marcus O'Boyle and Trevor Ventress.
Fulford 'A' replaced Bootham 'B' in fourth place by crushing Acomb 'B' 6-1 with wins by Simon England (24 break), Brian Bickerstaffe, Roger Gibson, Colin Neal, Wayne Pulleston and Alan Reed. B Manson was Acomb's sole winner.
Neil Wood (Heworth) has consolidated his position in the North Wolds Printers' Cup highest break competition with his 71 break, and he also leads the chase for the Willsden Steel player of the year prize.
Bootham's Ken Taylor, record winner of the competition, went out surprisingly 2-1 to Alan Reed (Fulford) in the preliminary round of the York Conservative Clubs' Scruton Cup, sponsored by Hair Flicks.
Taylor won the first frame comfortably. Reed won the second frame and in the third he potted yellow, snookered Taylor and then cleared the colours to win.
Neil Wood (Heworth), the cup winner for the past two years, won 2-0 against Roger Gibson (Fulford) and has still to drop a frame in the competition. He plays Mick Frampton (Acomb) in the first round.
Keith Lawrence (Heworth), last year's runner-up, won 2-0 against Ian Gillies (Acomb) and will play RA Smith (Fulford) in the next round.
Brian Coulson (Bootham), winner in 1992, meets Paul Waites (Acomb). Clive Whyte (Heworth), winner in 1997 and 1998, is away to Barry Rankin (Bootham), who won in 1993 and 1994. Peter Mills, the 1990 champion, has drawn Ken Bowser (Acomb).
Fulford pushed Acomb to the bottom of York Conservative Clubs' Snooker Pairs League with a 5-2 victory and now have a four point cushion as league leaders.
Bootham climbed to second spot, with a 5-2 win over Heworth, who trail them by one point.
The postponed match between Bootham and Fulford could eventually decide the championship.
Bootham 'A' maintained their three point advantage as York Conservative Clubs' Faber Shield Billiards League leaders with a 5-2 win over their 'B' team.
John Darley, Don Pringle, Colin Robinson and Ken Taylor (29, 25 breaks) won for the 'A' team. George Long and Ian Robinson were successful for the 'B' team.
Fulford thrashed last year's champions Acomb 6-1 and moved into second place. Their winners were Brian Bickerstaffe, Colin Neal, Wayne Pulleston (26 break), Alan Reed (26 break) and Richard Stroughair. Paul Waites gained a consolation point for Acomb, who are stranded in bottom spot.
