York City's LDV Vans Trophy first round tie with Darlington was postponed last night due to a waterlogged Bootham Crescent pitch.
The match is expected to be rescheduled for next week although a date had still to be confirmed this morning.
The game was called off less than 90 minutes before the start after a freakish afternoon downpour left standing water on the pitch.
City are cutting admission prices for students for every home league game, starting with the match against Blackpool on Friday, December 22.
The discount scheme, whereby students can gain entry to the David Longhurst Stand for £5 on production of an NUS card, had previously been used only for selected matches.
The announcement comes after Saturday's match with Shrewsbury Town at Bootham Crescent which was watched by 2,318 fans, the lowest crowd in Division Three.
