Oliver held out his begging bowl as York's Philharmonic Male Voice Choir and the Kirkgate Singers practised for their annual carol concert which starts tomorrow night.
Carols in Kirkgate promises to be the best ever this year and is being billed as "a magical night of music and Christmas cheer".
The setting is York Castle Museum's famous atmospheric Victorian Street, which has been decorated especially for the event. All funds raised at the concerts will go to the Lord Mayor's Christmas Cheer Fund, to be distributed to local causes. Performances are at 8pm tomorrow, through to Saturday and next Tuesday. Tickets for the concerts have sold out.
