Acomb Hockey Club men's first team suffered their first defeat in nine games as they went down 2-0 at home to Hull YPI.
Acomb struggled to break down the Hull defence and created few chances.
Hull went ahead early in the game and they had the better chances in the first half to increase the lead, but poor finishing and desperate defending by Stuart Baxter and Dave Bell kept the deficit to 1-0 at the interval.
In the second half Acomb worked hard and were unlucky when Hull scored a second goal late in the game.
A goal by Hill midway through the first half was enough to give Tadcaster men's first team a 1-0 win in their Yorkshire League match away to Slazenger IV.
Tadcaster kept to home side pinned in their own half, Stuart, assisted by Hunt and Dowell, combining well. After Hill had scored Tadcaster continued to push forward, wingers Oxtoby and Holmes providing the momentum. Fine defending on the goal line twice denied Hill adding to the score.
With the sun in their eyes in the second-half Tadcaster came under pressure but their defence, marshalled by 'Dyl' Beardmore and fullbacks Hebden and Burrell repelling wide raids, held firm.
Cattle flicked just wide as Tadcaster mounted attacks and the same player was later foiled when played through, only for the ball to strike a defender's foot at the crucial moment. Tadcaster 'keeper Watson saved at the feet of forwards several times in the final quarter.
Tadcaster men's first team game was cancelled. The first team are away to Normanby Park II on Saturday. The second team play Boston Spa III on a pitch to be decided. Tadcaster men's second team are away to Bradford University III on Sunday.
