WOODHOUSE GRANGE Cricket Club have awarded club stalwart Fred Mason with a club life membership.
Mason has played in no fewer than six decades for Grange and now gives his time coaching junior cricketers at the club.
The veteran made his debut back in the 1950s, played throughout the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s and featured in a couple of games in the 2000 season.
Club chairman John Stroughair said: "He's done a lot of work for local cricket generally, not just our club, and he is very popular among all the clubs not only Woodhouse Grange."
News of Mason's honour was announced at the Hunters Estate Agents York and District Senior Cricket league club's annual meeting which was attended by 50 players and members.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mike Burdett has been elected as the new first XI captain for next season, with his younger brother, Steve, named vice-captain.
The club also have a new commercial manager responsible for fund-raising, sponsorship and marketing, Martin Smith from Smith Brothers of York.
