Two giant trees in Ryedale are to be felled to help break a world record attempt.
The Douglas firs, which stand 120 feet tall, are being donated by the Forestry Commission and will be the centrepiece of an attempt on the world tree climbing record at next July's year's Great Yorkshire Show.
Each tree weighs about six tonnes and they will be trimmed of branches with a chainsaw and carefully lowered to the ground by an intricate pulley system to avoid damage
