"A dream come true" is how the Yorkshire Air Museum has described news that the Royal Marine Band will be appearing at its annual Navy Day next year.
On July 22, the Marines will be performing their famous 'Sunset' ceremony at the Elvington attraction, which was for many years the culmination of many Royal tours throughout the world on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
The Marine Band will also give a concert at the museum's Canadian Memorial hanger following a day of march pasts and displays.
"We are absolutely delighted that the Marines are coming to Elvington - it is a dream come true," said museum director Ian Reed.
"We anticipate that people will come from afar to see this fabulous band, so their presence will be a real coup for the museum and York's tourism industry."
The annual navy day has grown and grown over the past few years, becoming increasingly popular with the public as well as current and former Navy person-nel.
This year, the museum expects more than 2,000 ex-tars, boot-necks and fleet air arm veterans to attend.
