A York woman who has worked for the same company for 39 years has left - to start a new career.
Sandra Heron has made her way up through the ranks of local pharmaceutical company, Phoenix Healthcare.
Sandra, who was born in York and attended Cornlands Road Secondary School in Acomb, joined what was Bleasdale's, a manufacturing chemist based in Colliergate, on January 1, 1962.
She started work as a filing clerk, working her way up to office manager by 1982, when the company moved to Birch Park in Huntington Road. In 1993 she became the depot manager, a position she has retained until now.
Bleasdale's went through many changes over the years, being taken over by several companies before becoming Phoenix Healthcare.
Sandra met her husband while on holiday in Rhodes seven years ago, and he moved to York from Nottingham to be with her.
However, they have now decided to move back to Nottingham, having been given the opportunity to run a small newsagents there.
