Heworth under-14s went out of the Yorkshire League Cup when they were beaten 42-18 by first division side Dewsbury Moor.
An indifferent first half performance allowed the well-organised visitors to build up a 24-0 lead as they exploited some weak tackling.
Heworth stormed back in the second half and traded tries with Dewsbury. Marcus Allan, Matt Derry, Paul Thompson and Adam Snowball all caused problems with powerful running and each was rewarded with a try, Sam Ackroyd adding one conversion.
Andrew Hall, Craig Griffiths and Joe Hodgson worked tirelessly in defence.
Heworth under-12s recorded a hard earned 14-10 victory at Rodley.
York Acorn under-16s maintained their unbeaten home record with a commanding 36-10 win over Halifax-based Ovenden in the Yorkshire and West Riding Youth first division.
Acorn were always in control, thanks mainly to the excellent all-round play of their second row pairing, Leon Patterson and Dean Winspear, along with the tackling of scrum-half Chris Spain and the attacking play of centre Peter Fox and stand-off Andy Henson.
Third division Acorn under-12s bowed out of the cup following a 48-4 away defeat at first division East Leeds.
There was double success for Acorn under-11s as they overcame Featherstone and Hunslet Parkside.
