York and District Indoor Bowls Club, which has the largest membership of any indoor bowls club in the country, is faced with a major rebuilding programme which will involve re-roofing the building, members heard at the club's annual meeting.
The members voted that work on this should go ahead as soon as possible with the minimum amount of upheaval to the bowling programme.
A special committee is to look into the high cost of the programme. It is hoped that the work could be partly financed by either a grant or a low interest loan.
Peter Witty was appointed club president, with Geoff Oglesby vice-president. Peter Littlewood was re-elected chairman, Bill Hunter vice-chairman, and Syd Batty treasurer.
