ENTRANTS from across the north of England took part in the tenth annual York Hedge Laying competition.
Norman Wetherill, chairman of the York Hedge Laying Association, said the weather had not affected the competition which took place alongside a stretch of York's outer ring road, near Monks Cross.
Each competitor had to lay a stretch of hedgerow measuring eight yards long, on hedgerow belonging to farmer David Sherry and they were judged on quality, not speed.
"People were coming and going all day, it was a good competition," said Mr Wetherill.
The winner of the CLA trophy in the main competition was Jasper Prachek, from Sheffield.
In second place was Damon Peacock, from Leyland, Lancashire, in third place was Kenneth Walmsley, from Grantley, near Ripon, and in fourth place, Tony Leonard, of Market Weighton.
