Two schools hockey players from York starred in the Yorkshire under-21s side which won the North Division tournament at Manchester University.
Joseph Rowntrees student Sarah Massen and Joanna Sargeant, of St Peter's, were in the White Rose side which went through the tournament with a 100 per cent record.
Having won all their pool matches Yorkshire faced Cheshire in the semi-finals and notched a 3-0 victory.
They were even more convincing in the final where they beat Lancashire 4-0.
Massen and Sargeant are also both members of the City of York Ladies club.
Football
York Schools under-11s football team are through to the North of England finals in the Predator Seven-a-side Cup.
They faced a play-off against Scarborough to book their place in the tournament to be held in County Durham next month and won through 2-0.
York controlled the game in the first half and took the lead through a Hunt header a minute before half-time.
Scarborough pressed hard for an equaliser after the interval, but York's defence held firm and they then ensured their place in the finals when Nicol's quick throw-in paved the way for a fine solo goal from Stewart.
In the finals York will face teams from Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.
Team manager Adam Cooper said: "Considering it was the team's first seven-a-side outing they played extremely well.
"We have several 11-a-side matches to concentrate on before the next round, but we are relishing the opportunity of playing some of the best teams in the North of England.
"I feel that the team is good enough to go on and win through to the national finals. So much is down to confidence, so hopefully we will have some good 11-a-side results under our belts to stand us in good stead."
York Schools next 11-a-side outing is on Saturday, when they face Nottingham at Wigginton sports fields.
The full squad is asked to meet at 9am for training prior to the game and are reminded £2 subs are required.

County Netball
Yorkshire's season began with an extremely tough fixture away at Lancashire.
The Lancashire teams are renowned for their exceptional ability and high standard of netball and this definitely proved true on the day as Yorkshire's U16 'A' team lost 38-8 and the 'B' team lost 51-10.
Despite their defeats both teams showed great promise and commitment and battled against the forces of extremely bad weather.
The 'A' team showed great spirit against an experienced Lancashire team and were successful in beating Lancashire in one of the four quarters.
There was some good team work between Anneri Lamprecht and Janine Lumley in defence that halted the flow of the Lancashire attack at times.
The U16 'A' team got off to a bad start against Humberside and this was reflected as they lost 22-13.
After half-time the team pulled back and were on a par. The side played well as a unit with some excellent link-up play throughout the whole team.
Player of the match was Marion Willis.
The 'B' team were also unlucky to lose 23-10. Although they started brightly they soon began to tire and Humberside took advantage.
There was some excellent play from Nicola Bailey in centre court who refused to give up and she won the player of the match award.
