BRITAIN'S first TV quiz show millionaire was as cool as the sum she won. In fact the whole event was surprisingly low-key.

No champagne or tickertape for Judith Keppel; that was probably saved for the ITV executives as they celebrated comprehensively sabotaging the exit of Victor Meldrew on the other channel.

Judith deserves great credit for her general knowledge - and for the courage to risk a small fortune in pursuit of a bigger one. The next contestant, from Yorkshire, certainly had a hard act to follow. He was a teaching assistant, without society connections. The £125,000 he has amassed so far probably means as much to him as the million does to Judith Keppel.
