Acomb men's team hammered Boston Spa 6-0 to maintain their unbeaten record in division two of the Yorkshire League and stay on course for promotion.
Acomb have conceded only seven goals in seven games while they have banged in 15 at the other end to stay third in the table one point behind leaders Lincoln and level on points with Doncaster, who have a better goal difference.
With the top two going up to division one, Acomb are handily placed as the season heads towards the halfway mark.
However, they needed a wake-up call against Boston, which came when 'keeper Mike Brown made a superb save from a Spa short corner.
Acomb had struggled to get into their stride but they gradually worked their way into the game and took the lead from a quick break which resulted in Nick Linfoot's flick finding the target.
Acomb continued to press and doubled their advantage through Stuart Baxter from a well-worked short corner.
In the second half, Acomb held onto possession and created numerous chances. Jamie Robinson netted twice as he and the Acomb forwards posed problems for the Spa defence, while Adrian Nye also bagged a brace with a couple of poacher's goals.
Acomb II should have wrapped up their game with Sheffield VII by the interval, but instead needed two second-half strikes to seal a 3-1 victory in division II of the Yorkshire League.
Acomb opened the scoring in what was a scrappy encounter with a fine early goal by Chris Foster.
They then created other good chances but wasted them and Sheffield found an equaliser from a short corner just before half-time to go in 1-1 at the break.
Acomb continued to make opportunities after the restart and retook the lead when a cross was deflected home by Andy Lovett.
Sheffield battled hard but struggled to cope with Acomb's young attack and a third goal made the game safe.
